Nubie problem with Rear Left Brake light

Hi All,

After 1 week of purchasing a used 325i convertable I am having problems with my left rear brake light. It occasionaly works and on opening it I found out that the pad touching the light socket has a small hole in it.

If I twist the pad to make better contact with the light socket it works for a day or so till I have to do it again. The dealer told me that I have to change the whole lens assmebly and was wondering

1. Do I have other options (use solder... will it melt)
2. Can I get some used parts from someone to fix this.

i have no idea for fixing, but in case of replacement, i would try to get an aftermarket part that just looks exactly as the original., they are usually cheaper than the BMW stuff.
